Natural Healing Institute of Western Kentucky Faculty
A highly trained, experienced staff provides students with the opportunity to excel beyond current standards and to represent their field of massage therapy with integrity and professionalism. NHI actively engages in professional communication with health care providers to ensure that our training programs continue to address the various health care needs in the community.
Lisa Bozarth, LMT-C, NCBTMB
Director/Owner
Lisa has been a nationally certified professional massage therapist since 1993 and is a 1988 graduate of Cumberland Institute of Wellness Education. Lisa was co-founder and director of Natural Health Institute of Western Kentucky until May, 2003. At that time Lisa took full ownership and renamed the school Natural Healing Institute of Western Kentucky. Most recently, Lisa has been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Licensed Massage Therapy. She has extensive background on providing professional massage services in conjunction with physical therapy clinics and professional sports facilities. Lisa is respected highly in the state of Kentucky as a “pioneer” in massage therapy services. She still maintains a private practice focusing on rehabilitation. Lisa holds certification in pre- & post-natal massage. Lisa is also a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and teaches infant massage at Western Baptist Hospital.
Gregory Goodson, NTS, LMT
A licensed massage therapist since 1987, Gregory brings a wealth of knowledge and years of experience to NHI. Gregory has been a practicing CranialSacral therapist for the past twelve years and a massage instructor at leading massage schools for the past sixteen years.
Gerald Pollack, LMT-C, NMT
A graduate of Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY, Gerald specializes in Shiatsu and Deep Tissue massage. Gerald is an experienced instructor who has taught at several leading massage schools throughout the United States. He also maintains a full-time private practice in Nashville, TN.
Judy Gray, BA, LMT
Judy is a licensed massage therapist and a licensed massage instructor through the state of New Mexico. Judy has been involved in administration and instruction in massage schools for sixteen years in the Midwest and Southwest. She brings her knowledge and expertise to Natural Healing Institute both as an instructor and an administrative consultant.
Suzi Renaud, AAAI-ISMA
Certified Yoga Instructor
With over twenty years experience in the health and fitness industry, Suzi has taught groups and individuals in a variety of settings. Working with clients with special needs, her career has focused on yoga and movement science and is currently on staff at Baptist Family Fitness in Paducah, Kentucky.
Anke Horn, LMT
An inaugural graduate of NHI in 2001, Anke currently serves as the intern clinic instructor. Her primary focus of practice consists of pre and post natal massage.
Kelly Wright, MS
Kelly brings years of experience to NHI. She is a professor at West Kentucky Community and Technical College as well as the Director of the Science Department. Kelly’s love for the structure of the human body is clearly evident in her unique style of teaching.
Tracy Jordan, MA, LMT
Tracy is a licensed massage therapist and a graduate of Natural Health Institute of Western Kentucky 2001. Tracy is also an English professor at West Kentucky Community and Technical College and maintains a private massage practice. She is an emergency medical technician with the Livingston County Rescue Squad and she assists the local high school basketball program with sports massage.
Dr. Felix Akojie, PhD
Dr. Akojie is an associate professor of biology, and has taught at West Kentucky Community and Technical College for 12 years. His teaching subjects include, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Micro-Biology, and general Biology. The students of WKCTC elected him 2003 “Teacher of the Year.” He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Ife in Nigeria in 1985, and then did postdoctoral research in chemistry at Loyola University in Chicago and in immunology at the University of Vienna in Austria.
Suzan Sommers, LMT
A 1990 graduate of Massotherapy in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Suzan maintains a private practice in Nashville, TN; she also holds certification in bodywork for the child bearing year. Suzan is also on staff at Cumberland Wellness Education since 1995.
Steve Sommers, LMT
A 1991 graduate of Reilly School of Massotherapy in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Steve is a registered practitioner and licensed instructor of Jin Shin Do Bodymind Acupressure. Steve is also on staff at Cumberland Institute of Wellness Education since 1995.
Heather Pollack, CYI
Heather Pollack is a certified Jensen and Rayid Iridologist. She has
been studying and practicing Iridology since 1995. Her other studies
and practices include: herbal and vitamin therapy, homeopathy, essential
oils, and yoga. You can find Heather practicing Iridology in the Nashville
area and teaching yoga at the Yoga Source in downtown Nashville. Heather’s
compassion for others shows through her work in helping people achieve
their optimal health goals.
